Voted World Rugby U20 Player of the Year 2015

“Rob is a very diligent S&C coach who aims to get the best out of his players, pushing them to their maximum.

He tried hard to build a relationship with myself and the other players which had a massive impact in the gym, making it a great place to train.”

“Rob is a fantastic coach who has worked extremely hard to get where he is today. Combining his background of rugby, MMA and strongman training he develops programmes that not only take athletes to their limits but also makes them extremely enjoyable and rewarding.

I have worked with him on a personal level where I reached my personal peak of strength and conditioning.

I have also worked alongside him as part of the coaching set-up of Worcester University Men’s Rugby Team – where the superior conditioning of the team led them to one of their most successful seasons to date achieving promotion and winning the Varsity fixture against Gloucester University at Kingsholm.”

“I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work and train with Rob, he is an absolute professional, and this comes from his desire to succeed. He has always known what he wants, and has put in place a plan to reach this goal; this has included a ridiculous amount of hard work and dedication. He is one of the most approachable and friendly trainers you could ask for and always creates a positive training environment, which creates a boost for everyone involved. His technical knowledge is very impressive, and this comes from the desire which I mentioned before. He constantly tries to better himself through continual development whether this is through reading or watching articles and pieces or going on courses to develop his knowledge. I could not recommend Rob highly enough, no matter what your goal is, he will create a safe and enjoyable environment for you to reach them and you will not look back!”

“Despite having worked with us around only one season, Rob has been an invaluable asset to the Worcester Royals. Implementing a position specific strength and conditioning program, which he adapted throughout his time with us, the needs of a diversely experienced squad (in terms of both American football and strength and conditioning) was more than fully accounted for.

Being in my final season with the team (2013/14), I could definitely see the difference, especially amongst new players, in those who had followed his directions and personal feedback/adjustments. He worked really well with a number of players to address weak points and overall greatly improve their athletic performance.

Personally, Rob was always open to any questions I had about the gym and I feel I benefited from his knowledge.”

“I have worked with Rob for a number of different programs, in football and out. I have seen a lot of progress through the use of Rob’s programs in football, adapting existing programs to fit me and also I have had help from Rob in power lifting and with my Olympic lifting which has been crucial.

The help Rob has provided me with has been essential to my development over the past year. His programs are straight forward; he provided all the information I needed with lifting techniques and nutrition that would help me improve.”

“I started working with Rob through his role as the Worcester Royals strength and conditioning coach. It has now been a full year and I am very impressed with the results he has enabled me to achieve.

Firstly he provided me with great preparation leading into the University American Football season; which resulted in my best season to date and an invite to the Great Britain Student American Football Team winter training camp.

After the season was over for a bit of fun Rob provided me and several others with a powerlifting programme. Over the 8 weeks my lifts increased dramatically with an increase of 35kgs over the three lifts.

Rob is a friendly, approachable and knowledgeable trainer. He is always happy to help and will assist in any way he can. Due to this I will be sticking with Rob as my trainer for all future Football season preps and any other fitness goals.”

Head Coach – Worcester Royals American Football

“I first met Rob while studying at the same University. His knowledge and passion to learn was visible during the lectures and seminars as he was always looking to learn and better his knowledge.

After we both graduated, I became the Head Coach of the University American Football Team and I knew Rob had achieved various S&C qualifications both during his studies and since graduating too. As part of the development of the Football team, I knew I had to get my athletes in the gym and on an S&C programme so I approached Rob to see if he was interested, of course he jumped at the chance.

Rob and I met and shared ideas and resources to allow him to develop knowledge for the sport and the demands it hard on the body and muscle groups. After researching and improving his knowledge of American Football, Rob produced a position specific programme for the team that spanned the academic and Football year.

Players bought into the programme because of the professionalism and enthusiasm Rob had and put into every session come rain or shine. From early morning fitness sessions to late night strength sessions, the players would attend and see improvements throughout the year. This led to player performances and results improving and the team benefiting both on and off the field through results and awards.

Without Rob’s knowledge, commitment to the programme, players and professionalism then players would have been left to follow their own programmes which might not have been right for their body or Football position. Rob is still being involved in a consultancy role while he completes an internship at Harlequins Rugby Club and everyone at the Worcester Royals wish him all the best in the future.”
